Artist Statement
In my still life painting I choose to make my flowers on an up-close view without the vase to show emphasis on the color and shape of them. Throughout my painting I choose to spread them out so that the viewer’s eye could look beyond one focal point and see many flowers. Some of the flowers and stems went off the page to make the canvas look bigger and show movement. I choose to use almost all colors like purple, red, pink, green, and white; and added value to them in order for it to have a more realistic look then just plain. The back round setting is water because I wanted to create the image of them floating and a mellow tone to it with a fishing hook on the top right corner to create ripples. The texture I used in the flowers were colors that had a shade of white in order to create a softer tone, and the add value to them. My still life painting represents a closer look to flowers in a real life setting that persuades the image of one focal point to concrete it to all different points throughout my painting.
